• Can Turbo-Flo Series AODD Pumps stall without proper lubrication?

  Wilden Turbo-Flo Air-Operated Double-Diaphragm (AODD) Pumps require lubrication to run properly. If too little or too much oil is introduced, the pump can stall. To minimize stalling, use a 5-micron filter and lubricator set to deliver 1-3 drops of non-detergent 5W ISO Grade 15 Arctic oil every 5-10 seconds.

• Will Turbo-Flo Series AODD pumps run properly without lubrication?

  The Wilden Turbo-Flo Series air distribution system (ADS) is designed to operate with a small amount of oil. Using the pump without oil in the air distribution system can cause excessive wear on the air-side wear parts.

• Are Turbo-Flo Series AODD pumps designed to handle dirty or contaminated air?

  Turbo-Flo Series Air-Operated Double-Diaphragm (AODD) Pumps feature a simple air distribution system with larger internal clearances and require oil lubrication. This makes them ideal utility diaphragm pumps for facilities with inconsistent or low-quality air supply.

• When should I choose a Turbo-Flo Series AODD pump over other Wilden pumps?

  Turbo-Flo Series Air-Operated Double-Diaphragm (AODD) Pumps should be used in applications where the quality of compressed air supplied to the pump is low. The simple Turbo-Flo air distribution system (ADS) with larger clearances and oil lubrication will allow the pumps to operate in applications where other pumps would clog. In other words, the Turbo-Flo Series is a great choice for maintenance-heavy industrial environments where oil-lubricated AODD pumps are better suited to withstand air contamination.

• What type of oil and dosage is best for lubricating a Turbo-Flo Series AODD pump?

  Turbo-Flo Series Air-Operated Double-Diaphragm (AODD) Pumps require 1-3 drops of 5W ISO grade 15 every 5-10 seconds. Using ISO 15-grade oil at the proper dosage is critical to extending the service life of the pump’s air-side components. Air tool oil or Marvel Mystery Oil® is never recommended, as they contain detergents that are more harmful to the air distribution system.
