• What does "FDA Grade" mean for Saniflo FDA Series Pumps?

  Wilden Saniflo FDA Series Pumps are designed for standard food applications that do not require a hygienic design or clean-in-place capability. They are made of materials designated to be safe for food-grade/FDA applications and comply with FDA, CE, EC 1935/2004 and ATEX requirements.

• Are Saniflo FDA Series Pumps designed for clean-in-place (CIP) or clean-out-of-place (COP) processes?

  Wilden Saniflo FDA Series Pumps are designed for clean-out-of-place (COP) operation with tri-clamp connections and a wingnut clamp design for quick breakdown and reassembly for easy cleaning. Their COP design is particularly well suited for batch processing facilities with manual cleaning requirements.

• Are FDA-grade pumps the same as 3-A rated pumps?

  FDA-grade pumps are not the same as 3-A rated pumps. FDA-grade pumps are made from materials designated as safe for food contact under FDA regulations. 3-A rating focuses on the hygienic design and high cleanability standards of pumps to prevent bacterial growth in food processing equipment. Wilden Saniflo FDA Series Pumps are FDA-grade AODD pumps, while Saniflo Hygienic Series (HS) Pumps are 3-A-rated pumps.

• Are Saniflo FDA Series Pumps ATEX-rated?

  Wilden Saniflo FDA Series Pumps include ATEX-rated models. These models are constructed with a conductive air distribution system made of aluminum, stainless steel or conductive polypropylene. They are designated with an “X” at the start of their model string. Saniflo FDA Series ATEX-rated models are a reliable option for food-grade environments that require explosion protection or compliance with EU safety standards.

• Are tri-clamp fittings required for FDA-grade AODD pumps?

  Tri-clamp fittings are not required for a pump to be considered FDA-grade and safe for food applications. However, tri-clamp connection fittings offer a hygienic option for connecting piping that prevents contamination, which is typically required when FDA-grade pumps are used.
