Since the High-Pressure Series can operate at higher discharge pressure, they are ideal for pumping higher-viscosity fluids that typically exhibit high friction losses when moving thick fluid through piping. They are often used in oil and resin transfer applications where standard pumps struggle with flow resistance.

• Which AODD pumps are best suited for filter press applications?

  A standard AODD pump can be used during the initial filling of the filter, as the required pressure is low and the higher flow rate enables the filter to fill quickly. However, as the filter fills and the discharge pressure requirement increases, high-pressure AODD pumps become more effective at removing as many particulates as possible from the fluid. Specifically, Wilden High-Pressure Series Air-Operated Double-Diaphragm (AODD) Pumps are well-suited for filter press applications.

• How do you increase discharge pressure with high-pressure AODD pumps?

  Standard air-operated double-diaphragm (AODD) pumps operate with a 1:1 pressure ratio, allowing the discharge pressure to be directly controlled by the air supply pressure. To exceed the 120 psi maximum inlet pressure, high-pressure AODD pumps would be required. These high-pressure AODD pumps operate with either a 2:1 or a 3:1 pressure ratio, allowing the maximum discharge pressure to be increased.
