Many issues with chemical metering pumps stem from valve blockages or diaphragm wear, especially in corrosive dosing applications. The first thing you should check on your metering pump when it stops working is the oil. If the oil is old, replace it with new oil and consider replacing it more frequently. Then you should check the suction and discharge valves. These valves should be able to move freely and allow fluid to pass through the pump. If these valves do not move freely, clean or replace them. Finally, check the diaphragms on the pump. If there are any cracks, dimples or tears in the diaphragm, the pump could fail to operate and would need replacement.
