A flow switch is a device used to detect whether a fluid (liquid or gas) is flowing through a pipe, duct, or channel, and to trigger an electrical signal when flow exceeds or drops below a set level.
Flow switches detect the presence or absence of flow and trigger an action, such as turning a pump on/off or sounding an alarm. Flow switches typically use a magnetic piston, shuttle or vane that reacts when flow exceeds or drops below a set threshold.
