Wilden AODD pumps are engineered to handle fluids with high viscosity, such as lubricants and crude oil encountered in oil and gas processing. They can effectively manage highly viscous fluids, including crude or lube oil, with viscosities reaching up to 25,185 cPs.
To optimize pump performance in these high-viscosity scenarios, follow these best practices:
Minimize Friction Loss: Utilize large suction lines, ideally up to three times the size of the pump ports, to reduce friction.
Optimal Positioning: Place the pump as close as possible to, or preferably below, the fluid level.
Controlled Start-Up: Initiate fluid movement slowly by using an air line valve.
Gradual Air Control: Set the air pressure and slowly "crack" the valve open.
Keep in mind that high viscosity will impact pump performance. Consult the viscosity correction guide for instructions on how to accurately interpret the performance curve for highly viscous fluids.
