From gold to iron ore, coal to potash, the mining industry is in the midst of a record growth period. Never before have so many different mined commodities been in such high demand. With mining companies in China, India, Australia, Brazil and Russia coming of age as they join the United States in setting the industry’s agenda, some estimates put investment in mining projects worldwide at more than $300 billion.
